Secret Garden

its seems im running out of korean variety shows to watch. in fact, the only shows that im still watching with some regularity is running man and immortal song 2 (freaking awesome show, maybe i will take about it some other time). the rest of the shows have been terminated, and there isnt any new ones that interests me at the moment.

somehow i then got started on watching the drama secret garden, and i just completed it today. was it worth the watch?

having received high viewership ratings and multiple awards in korea, theres no doubt about the popularity of the 20-episode drama. needless to say, the storyline has its appeal.

i was greatly impressed by three things. firstly, the cast is really good looking, regardless of male or female. who believes ha ji won is already 32 this year and kim sa rang is 33! Oo

secondly, as the drama is headed by a very experienced cast, the acting is convincing. in order to generate a huge fanfare, some dramas tend to accept idol stars (who are essentially singers) as part of their cast. not this one though. no disrespect to the idols, but sometimes you can really tell the difference, what extensive experience and training will bring.

lastly, the rather anti-climatic final point that impressed me is... ... the storyline itself xD

at no point is the drama dull, thanks to the clever incorporation of comedy. i would say the story between the main actor and actress might be a bit of a cliche at some parts, but the drama is still captivating thanks to a bloody good story between the second main (or supporting) actor and actress. in fact, i feel that the story of the second couple is on par or even nicer to watch than the main pairing!

in conclusion: definitely worth the watch!
